What Is Purified Water Window Cleaning (and Why It Matters)
Regular tap water carries dissolved minerals — calcium, magnesium, silica — the same minerals that cause hard water spotting on glass. When tap water evaporates off a window, those minerals stay behind as a faint white residue. Purified water has been stripped of those minerals through a deionization process, so when it air-dries on glass, it leaves nothing behind at all.
That’s the core idea behind a water-fed pole system: an extension pole feeds purified water through a soft brush head that agitates and lifts dirt, then rinses it away with water so pure it doesn’t need to be squeegeed or towel-dried. The glass simply air-dries spot-free. It’s also why purified water is the standard we use for treating hard water staining and salt film buildup — rinsing with mineral-free water stops new deposits from forming while we’re removing the old ones.
The other advantage is reach. A water-fed pole lets us clean upper-story and hard-to-access windows from the ground, without leaning a ladder against your home or working from an upstairs window frame. It’s a big part of how we clean multi-story San Clemente homes safely — it’s also how we handle second-story and upper-level windows without a ladder — see our FAQ on the homepage for more.
Not every job calls for a pole system — interior windows and close-in work are still done by hand with traditional squeegee methods for the cleanest edge finish. We use whichever method fits the window, the access, and the level of buildup.
