What Is a Water-Fed Pole System?
A water-fed pole system is an extension pole with a soft brush head on the end, fed by a hose carrying purified water. The brush agitates and lifts dirt from the glass while the purified water rinses it, and because the water is mineral-free, it air-dries completely spot-free — no squeegee or towel-drying needed.
You’ll see this system called a few different things online — water-fed pole, waterfed pole, or water fed pole system — they all refer to the same purified-water cleaning method described on this page.
The main advantage is reach. The pole extends far enough to clean second-story and upper-level windows from the ground, which means no ladder leaning against the home and no one working from an upstairs window frame. For a multi-story coastal home, that’s a meaningful safety difference over a traditional ladder-and-squeegee approach.
It’s also why purified water matters for hard water and salt film treatment specifically — rinsing with mineral-free water avoids adding new spotting while existing buildup is being removed. See our full purified water explainer for more on how the two work together.
Not every window needs a pole system — ground-level and interior glass is often still cleaned by hand with a traditional squeegee for the cleanest edge finish. It’s one tool in the process, matched to the window it’s cleaning.
